Strbské pleso
The most famous and most visited lake on the Slovak side of the High Tatras. Located in the Tatra village of the same name – Strbske Pleso, in altitude of 1 346 m. n. m .. It is situated at the mouth of Furkotská and Mlynická valley. On the Slovak side of Tatras is the second largest Tatras mountain lake (area of nearly 20 ha and max. Depth of 20 m). Overall, it is one place in the ranking 5th largest Tatra lakes (taking into account the Slovak and Polish side).
It is a typical lake moraine type that originated in the lower mountain areas as a result of shrinking glaciers hot. Around the tarn can go hiking paths whose length is a little over 2 km. If you are interested, you can rent a stylish wooden punts and you can admire the magnificent views of the nearby peaks Solisko. In the past, boating on the lake began shortly after the first position of objects buildings. Already in 1880 there was a pier and shelter for boats. At that time, rowing popular entertainment, which lasted roughly from May to October, of course, the length of the season to envy the weather. Boating and bathing was in the 80s of the 20th century protectionist reasons prohibited. In the village Strbske Pleso is a sports complex with opportunities for skiers and cross-country skiers.
